Indian cybersecurity authorities have reported a significant increase in cyberattacks targeting critical infrastructure, including energy grids, transportation systems, and healthcare networks. Analysts indicate that these attacks are part of a coordinated effort by international cybercrime groups and advanced persistent threat (APT) actors seeking to exploit vulnerabilities in India’s digital systems.

Recent incidents include malware intrusions in power sector networks, ransomware attacks on healthcare providers, and attempts to compromise government cloud servers. Investigations suggest that the attackers are employing AI-powered malware and phishing campaigns to bypass traditional cybersecurity defenses.

“The rise in attacks on critical infrastructure is alarming,” said Rajiv Mehta, Senior Cybersecurity Advisor at India’s CERT-In. “These are high-impact, targeted campaigns that could disrupt essential services if not addressed promptly.”

Cybersecurity experts recommend urgent action, including strengthening endpoint security, adopting AI-based threat detection systems, and regular vulnerability assessments. Organizations are also encouraged to conduct employee awareness training to prevent social engineering attacks.
